Title I

  • Reward Schools

Reedy Creek and Yates Mill Elementary Schools are two of 78 Title I schools recently recognized as North Carolina Title I Reward Schools for 2014-15. A Reward School is a Title I school that ranks among the highest 10 percent of all Title I schools, according to several student performance criteria.

Schools were selected for recognition based on assessment data from the 2012-13 and 2013-14 school years. Reedy Creek Elementary has been recognized for two consecutive years.

Schools were identified using the following criteria:

    • Title I schools with a poverty rate at or above 50% for the previous year with average gap for the
past three years between the highest and lowest performing subgroups below the state average gap
for the past three years between the highest and the lowest performing subgroup
      AND
    • Schools made Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) in the previous year, and all subgroups with performance data, including "all
students," performed above the specific subgroup state performance when averaging R/M
performance composite in the previous and the two prior years; and at the high school level, all
subgroups also had a graduation rate above the specific subgroup’s state graduation rate when
averaging the graduation rate in the previous and the two prior years.
      OR
    • Schools with a performance composite for the previous year equal or above 60% that are among
the highest 10% of schools when measuring the progress on the R/M performance composite
score of “all students” between the previous year and the one from two years ago; and at the high
school level, are also among the highest 10% schools when measuring the progress on the
