Career academies are personalized small learning communities within the KHSCD Institute of Government and Global Inquiry made up of a small group of students and teachers for a three-year span. Academy classes are usually blocked back-to-back in the daily schedule, and students attend them as a group. Students are able to complete academy requirements within the regular school day, with the exception of work internships. Knightdale Career Academies are open for rising Sophomores (class of 2020) to apply at http://bit.ly/kaes-kaps before April 30.
There are two Knightdale Career Academies to choose from:
Knightdale Academy of Environmental Studies (KAES)
The Mission of the Knightdale Academy of Environmental Studies is to prepare students to make knowledgeable career choices through work-based experiences and applications of current environmental issues.
Knightdale Academy of Public Safety (KAPS)
The Mission of the Knightdale Academy of Public Safety is to develop and guide interested students toward a career in public safety through academics, personal development and in-depth education which will prepare the students to be college or career ready.
