The nomination window for SSA for the 2017-2018 school year in WCPSS will be open this spring. If you would like your child to take an SSA assessment, the nomination form must be received by the end of the school day for your child's school calendar. Schools are not able to process any nominations received after the nomination window closes. Nomination windows are: Track 1 (4/11-4/25/2017), Track 2 (4/10-4/24/2017), Track 3 (4/12-5/18/2017), & Track 4 (5/5-5/18/2017). SSA Single Subject Acceleration (SSA) is a practice through which students meeting qualifying criteria in grades K‐7 can take advanced academic content in mathematics or English/Language Arts (ELA). Interested families can register for the community-based TGA Golf and TGA Tennis programs that will begin on March 28th to support students developing their skills in the lifelong sports of golf and tennis. All equipment is provided by the program's experienced coaches. Programs are fee-based and occur on Tuesdays and/or Wednesdays through June 30th. For families who are interested in learning more about Alston Ridge Elementary School and the chance to walk the school building, join the school counselors for an upcoming tour where you'll have your questions answered as you take a short tour of the building to learn about how we are achieving a vision of excellence. Tours are posted on the website calendar, and will be held on 2/15, 4/6 and 5/3.
Kindergarten Registration for the upcoming school year can be completed Monday-Thursday from 10 AM-2 PM in the main office. The track-change request period for the 2017-2018 school year has closed. The ability of the school to honor track change requests is limited to the space available on the requested track. Few track change requests are anticipated year-to-year due to continuing growth. The track-change request period for the 2017-2018 school year was communicated to all currently enrolled families: The track-change request period for the upcoming 2017-2018 school year was from 02/27-03/03 for students currently assigned to Tracks 1, 3 and 4.Track-change request forms were available in the main office at Alston Ridge ES and were completed in person. The track-change request period for students currently assigned to Track 2 was from 03/06-03/10. All request forms were received in-hand by 4:30 PM on the Friday of the track-change request window.
A variety of community-based programs will begin offering fee-based afterschool programming for Alston Ridge students. Programs include the Alston Ridge Band, TGA Tennis and Golf, and Young Rembrandts Drawing Program. Information about registration is available on the program website.

Look for the Phone Messenger Archive to view text of recent whole-school announcements that are delivered through the WCPSS Phone Messenger system. Updates will include information on upcoming events, district policies and updates, and the goings on at Alston Ridge Elementary School.
Online volunteer registration can be completed during school hours at any Wake County Public School building. All returning volunteers must re-register prior to October 31st to ensure that there is no break in eligibility. Prospective volunteers will submit to a background check prior to approval by WCPSS to volunteer.
No proposals have yet been made about which schools might change calendars.
