Interested families can register for the community-based TGA Golf and TGA Tennis programs that will begin on March 28th to support students developing their skills in the lifelong sports of golf and tennis. All equipment is provided by the program's experienced coaches. Programs are fee-based and occur on Tuesdays and/or Wednesdays through June 30th. Online volunteer registration can be completed during school hours at any Wake County Public School building. All returning volunteers must re-register prior to October 31st to ensure that there is no break in eligibility. Prospective volunteers will submit to a background check prior to approval by WCPSS to volunteer.
A variety of community-based programs will begin offering fee-based afterschool programming for Alston Ridge students. Programs include the Alston Ridge Band, TGA Tennis and Golf, and Young Rembrandts Drawing Program. Information about registration is available on the program website.
The track-change request period for the 2017-2018 school year has closed. The ability of the school to honor track change requests is limited to the space available on the requested track. Few track change requests are anticipated year-to-year due to continuing growth. The track-change request period for the 2017-2018 school year was communicated to all currently enrolled families: The track-change request period for the upcoming 2017-2018 school year was from 02/27-03/03 for students currently assigned to Tracks 1, 3 and 4.Track-change request forms were available in the main office at Alston Ridge ES and were completed in person. The track-change request period for students currently assigned to Track 2 was from 03/06-03/10. All request forms were received in-hand by 4:30 PM on the Friday of the track-change request window.
Some students are talking about the miniseries "13 Reasons Why," dealing with a student's death by suicide. We do not recommend that your student watch the series. However, if you choose to watch it, here is some helpful information for healthy discussion about it.
