The start of the 2025-26 school year is just around the corner and I am ready to welcome Wildcats back to campus!

Communication:  This message is being sent via phone call, email and text.  If you are not receiving it via all 3 methods, you’ll want to ensure your contact information is updated with our main office.  You may also need to opt in to text messages and be certain you have not inadvertently unsubscribed to school email or accidentally blocked the sender.  Information about opting in to text messages as well as what to do if you are not receiving messages is available HERE.  Please read the message in its entirety before contacting the school.

My regular communication will be via text and email each Sunday.  I reserve phone messages for more urgent communication needs.

Student Schedules:  Due to the migration from PowerSchool to Infinite Campus, we are continuing to work on student schedules.   Year 2 and Year 3 students may access their schedules via their portal.  Year 2 and Year 3 students who are new to our school and for whom a schedule has already been generated will be able to pick up a schedule on the grade level hallway during their assigned schedule walk through.  Year 1 students will receive their schedules at Catapult.

I want to clarify the names of the language acquisition classes as there have been several questions about correct language placement:

Spanish/French/Chinese Beginning Less Than One Year – Beginning level class

Spanish/French/Chinese Beginning One Year – Intermediate Level Class

Chinese Continuing Two Years OR – Spanish/French For High School Credit – Advanced Language Course

Finally, because we build our master schedule based on classes students select during spring course registration, we are not often able to make schedule changes due to course and seat availability.  No schedule changes will be made this week.  Next week, school counselors will communicate the process for requesting schedule changes and they will begin receiving schedule changes requests on September 2.  Students will attend their currently scheduled classes until/unless a schedule change is made.

Catapult/Schedule Walk Through:  On Thursday, August 21, Year 1 students (6th graders) will attend Catapult from 8:30am – 11:30am.  Specific information about Catapult has been shared with Year 1 families.

Year 2 students and their families may walk their schedules on Thursday from 1:00pm – 2:15pm and Year 3 students and their families may walk their schedules on Thursday from 2:45pm – 4:00pm.  Staggered times are necessary due to available parking.

Parents/families are also encouraged to visit the PTA and Athletic Boosters stations on Thursday.   You can purchase spirit wear, join PTA, receive information about our PTA and Athletic Boosters and meet other parents/families.  Families may visit the cafeteria to put money on student lunch accounts and to connect with district transportation staff who will be available to answer questions about bus service.  Families may also submit vaccination records and complete an address change during the schedule walk through times.

Grade level supply lists may be found at this link.

Bus Info:  District transportation information is available at Transportation Information.  Bus routes are posted and may be viewed at West Millbrook Bus Routes.  Make certain that you check these websites regularly as information is often updated.

First Week of School:  Students will not need all of their supplies on the first day of school or during the first week of school.  All students need a notebook and writing utensil, a water bottle, lunch (if they are bringing lunch) and a snack.  Year 2 and Year 3 students should also bring their charged Chromebook and charger each day.  Year 1 students will be issued a Chromebook during the 1st 2 weeks of school.  Please do not allow your student to bring a heavy bookbag loaded with supplies at the start of the school year.    Also, we are a gum free school.  Students should not have chewing gum at school.

REGISTER FOR FALL SPORTS ASAP Football, cheer, girls soccer, or girls volleyball! Our team needs ample time to review eligibility & Dragonfly accounts. The earlier you sign-up, the earlier you're athlete is "approved to play" www.bit.ly/WMtryouts

    Questions? Contact dcalhoun@wcpss.net

School Meals:  Menus may be viewed at West Millbrook menus.  It usually takes 3 -5 days for cafeteria procedures to become routine.  If your child is anxious about lunch you may wish to pack his/her lunch the first few days.  All children will enter their Infinite Campus student number as they pick up lunch so please help your student memorize this number.  Our cafeteria will also be selling a la carte items this year.  Please remind students they may only go through the line one time.  To add funds to your child’s account visit My SchoolBucks.  If you have questions, please contact our cafeteria manager Hana Habte at hhabte@wcpss.net

Visiting Campus:  The exterior doors of our school are always locked.  Please ring the AIPhone (on the column to the right of the front doors) when you arrive and someone will assist you.  Please bring your driver’s license with you as you will need it for the Visitor Management System.

    From the PTA:

Spirit Night at Two Roosters on Thursday, August 21(Lead Mine Location) 2pm – 9pm.  Come by before or after your schedule walk-through to enjoy ice cream and hang out with other Wildcat families!  Please mention West Millbrook when you order and a portion of the proceeds benefit our PTA!

It's time for the PTA annual Meet & Greet! Join us in the WMMMS main lobby on Tuesday, September 2 from 6:30pm – 7:30pm in the main lobby! Come as you are and stay for as little or as long as you'd like... we'll have snacks!  We'd love for you to drop by and learn more about the WMMMS PTA and our mission, our committees and how to get involved or stay updated (no commitment necessary!), the benefits of joining PTA and everything we have planned for the year

New Spirit Wear will be sold on 8/21 during schedule walk through from 11:45am - 4pm. Walk your schedule and come check out our new hoodies and t-shirts!  We will be located by the elevators on the first floor!  All payment types are accepted!

From the Wildcat Athletic Boosters: Still seeking a chairperson for Concessions!  Now is a great time to get involved.  Contact President Kim Earnhardt at kimearnhardt@nc.rr.com.
